Tom Bancroft - expresiones de personaje

Siguiendo a Tom Bancroft en deviantart, ex-animador y diseñador de personajes para Disney, descubrí que convoca a la comunidad en general a cumplir ciertas 'tareas' relacionadas con diseño de personajes. Él se encarga de entregar y formular la tarea para que después cada artista/animador/ilustrador suba su resultado en deviantart para que todos veamos su propuesta. Después de esto Tom elige 2 de ellos para hacer observaciones constructivas del cómo mejorar esa propuesta, y esta vez tuve la fortuna que eligiera la mía. En esta ocasión se tenían que crear una serie de expresiones basadas en la hoja modelo de Emma (diseñada por Tom), y trabajar sus emociones lo más apegado posible al diseño. Mi propuesta es la que tiene color morado, las correcciones y observaciones de Tom están en color rojo.

Dejo las observaciones que seguramente les servirán a alguien más, y muchísimas gracias a Tom por tener la pasión, dedicación y ganas de pasar su conocimiento a futuros artistas.

Following Tom Bancroft's deviantart, former animator and character designer for Disney, I found out that he calls the artist community to complete certain 'tasks' related to character 
design. 


After each task, the artist / animator / illustrator must upload his/her results on deviantart so everyone can see their work. After that, Tom chooses 2 of them to make comments and notes of how to improve their results, and this time I was fortunate that he chose mine. The assignment was to create expressions based on the model sheet of Emma (created by Tom) and play with her emotions sticking as much as possible to the character design. My designs are colored in purple and Tom's notes on red.

Fondos para animación / Animation backgrounds

Actualmente en el estudio traemos un proyecto alterno a nuestro trabajo que le empezaremos a dar de lleno en el año entrante. Un cortometraje animado en el que ya llevamos gran parte de la preproducción terminada y estos fondos muestran parte del estilo que estamos logrando para la producción final.

Hojeando un viejo cuaderno de bocetos me encontre esto que me pareció interesante aún teniendo 6 años de edad. Algo abstracto pero buscando formas orgánicas.

Diseño de personaje para CIC • Museo UABC

Unas hojas de diseño de personaje para un libro infantil ilustrado titulado "Los primeros pobladores", de la colección Viajeros Somos, mostrando a 2 niños que viajan en el tiempo para estudiar y observar a las primeras tribus indígenas que habitaron la península de Baja California, México. Próximamente estará impreso y a la venta en sus instalaciones.

A character design made for an upcoming illustrated children's book, which is about the first inhabitants of the Baja California region, in Mexico. The concept was to put 2 kids travelling to the era of the first indian groups, studying their customs and way of living.

El golem

Una ilustración que saqué un aburrido domingo, aunque ya había hecho algunos bocetos sobre los personajes. Finalmente se metieron a Photoshop y el resultado fue éste. Los bocetos pueden verlos en el post anterior.

An illustration I did on a boring Sunday, though I had done some sketches of the characters. Finally they made their way to Photoshop and this was the result. The sketches can be seen at the previous post.
